Ever since our inception as the Melville Orchestral Society in 1961, we are proud to have an identity as an adaptable and innovative group of musicians with a shared passion, to bring music to our community.

Fremantle Symphony Orchestra acknowledges the Whadjuk Noongar people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet and perform, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We wish to extend that respect to all First Nation people and commit to building a brighter future together.

We are a non-profit organisation, run by a voluntary committee and dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of music in our local community. With a regular membership of about 60 musicians we present up to five concerts each year at a variety of venues around Perth, Fremantle and country WA.

The FSO strives to cultivate, foster and promote the performance and enjoyment of music in our community, whilst also forming and strengthening relationships with kindred cultural organisations in and around Perth and WA. In addition to providing an an outlet for the talents of our members, the FSO is a great training ground for aspiring local instrumental soloists, conductors and composers. In past years the orchestra has toured to Albany, Busselton and Margaret River and continues to maintain working relationships with music makers throughout the state.
